Blow out the candles and open our latest gift!

**Giveaway is now closed**

Danielle Steel's latest novel, "Happy Birthday" is something everyone can relate to. We all have birthdays, right? :) It's a matter of whether we embrace them or cower from them, but we all wonder what we have to show for our age at different times in our lives.

In honor of the release of this new novel, we wanted to talk about our favorite Danielle Steel novels of the past and favorite birthday memories. In addition, Elizabeth Swain of Transworld Publishers (a division of Random House UK) has two copies to share with some lucky readers anywhere in the world. So make a wish, blow out the candles, and maybe "Happy Birthday" will be the next gift you open! (If not, you can always treat yourself or even buy it for a friend for their birthday...)

Melissa P:

Favorite Danielle Steel novel: "Granny Dan." It is about a girl who finds out that her grandmother was once a ballerina in Russia :) It's a beautifully told and haunting story that was nearly impossible to put down.

Favorite birthday memory: My ninth birthday. Because my birthday is in October, my mom threw a Halloween costume party for me in our basement! It was so much fun, we bobbed for apples, danced to "Monster Mash", and made had a contest to see which team of two could get to the middle of a string of licorice with a marshmallow in the middle. The basement was decorated like a haunted house and all the food resembled bugs or body parts. (LOL!)

Melissa A:

Favorite Danielle Steel novel: "Star." A friend recommended this to me back in 2003 and I picked it up and fell in love with it right away. It's full of fire and emotion and I just wanted to cheer for Crystal, the heroine, the entire time (and cry for her when life was kicking her in the shins). There's even a made-for-television movie with Jennie Garth, but it's not as good as the book.

Favorite birthday memory: I'm sharing one of them in an upcoming blog post. There are so many others to list though! However, I'll pick one and stick with it! In 1998, I was obsessed with "Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind." It's 30 plays in 60 minutes at a theater in Chicago (I think it's also in NYC too). On the Sunday closest to my 22nd birthday (yes, I'm giving away my age if you do the math), I decided to have a bunch of friends join me at a showing of TMLMTBGB. My parents made arrangements with the staff to do a set rate instead of basing each person's cost on the roll of a die. I think they even paid for all my guests, but it's been ages so I can't remember. After the show, they let us all stay in the waiting room for cake and to hang out for a while. I just had a blast at the show and it was a great way to bring in that birthday.

Thanks to Elizabeth Swain for sharing "Happy Birthday" with everyone!

How to win "Happy Birthday": Tell us about your favorite Danielle Steel novel or tell us which celebrity shares a birthday with you. Please include your e-mail address or another way to reach you.

Giveaway ends August 21st at midnight EST.

(Cover art: Top left, UK. Bottom right, US. UK version is what is featured in this giveaway. That cupcake looks so delicious!)

I think my fav novel is Full Circle. I read it quite some time ago but I do remember it being really good. Also the main character (female) was memorable.
