How Sarah Maizes celebrates Mother's Day...plus a book giveaway!

**Giveaway is now closed**

Sarah Maizes is a former entertainment executive turned writer, stand-up comedian, founder of MommyLiteOnline, and author of Got Milf?: The Modern Mom's Guide to Feeling Fabulous, Looking Great, and Rocking A Minivan. She resides in southern California with three kids, two guinea pigs and provides a last stop for fish on their "way back to the ocean."

She is also the creator and co-author of The Bridesmaid’s Guerrilla Handbook (published by Berkley), and has two children's books coming out in the next year or two.

Sarah has come to CLC to talk about motherhood and Jennifer Bernard from Berkley/Penguin Books has three copies of "Got Milf?" to give to some lucky readers in the US.

You can find Sarah on Facebook and Twitter, as well as read her blog.

Watch the trailer for "Got Milf?" It's funny!

1. What is your favorite thing about being a mom?
The kisses and hugs. You can't beat 'em. OH...and just looking at their faces while they sleep. I do it every night. They look so sweet and innocent. The love just bubbles up and out of you. Of course...then they wake up.

2. What is the most challenging thing about motherhood?
Everybody needing you all of the time. Constant neediness is hard for me. I'm a very independent person. It's hard to give everybody what they want, when they want it, how they want it without wanting to pull my hair out.

3. What do you do as a mom that is the most similar to what your mom did when you were a kid?
Wow. That's tough. I love my mom, but we are so incredibly different. My mom always insisted every experience be educational. I put a lot more emphasis on my kids just having fun and exploring their silly sides. If there is one thing my mom and I share parenting wise - it's a love of cooking. She always cooked with us. I do the same with my kids.

4. Share something funny that your kid(s) said or did recently.
My 8 year-old child walked into our house after school and said in a pretty darn good British accent "Mother, I need to go to the wash closet. I must take a whiz." I thought it was hilarious!

5. Share some advice you'd like to give to new or soon-to-be moms.
Nobody goes to college in pull-ups! This might not make sense to them now...but it will. :)

6. Do you have any Mother's Day traditions?
Every year my sister and I do mother's day together with our families. We watch a lot of TV and eat tons of cheese.

7. Who is your favorite TV mom?
Gloria from "Modern Family"! Hands down! I love that character! I also used to love Meredith Baxter Birney on "Family Ties." She was a great mom!

8. Who is your favorite mom from a fictional novel?
Bertie White in Beaches by Iris Dart!* You don't just see the "mother." You see the evolution of the whole "woman." That's how I see myself. Not just the mom - I'm the result of the evolution of my own life. I think almost every mother can appreciate that.

9. What is your favorite activity to share with your kids?
Well...cooking and Family Game Night! I love that they're old enough to play games. We get very competitive. I think I've even said "In your face!" to them once or twice. I think it builds character. :)

10. What is your favorite memory that you share with your mom?
Baking. My mom is an amazing cook and I loved baking with her. When we were in the kitchen it was like we were the only people in the world. And...there was sugar. What more could you want?

Thanks to Sarah for dishing about motherhood and Jennifer for providing the books for the giveaway.

Ok, one of my favorite fictional moms from a novel is the mom from Julie and Julia (I can't remember her name!). She reminded me so much of my own mother that it made me smile.

Mother's Day is painful for me. I lost my mom 11 years ago when I was a newlywed. I really needed her then, and boy I need her now. But, do we EVER stop needing our moms? I've volunteered in nursing homes, and in them, there were patients constantly calling out for their moms. I found it interesting that decades after their mothers had died, they were still calling out to them for comfort. No one could calm them like their moms could. And my favorite fictional mother? Mrs. Dashwood from "Sense and Sensibility." She wanted her daughters to marry for love, as well as for money and society. kirsten123@aol.com

Oops......please disregard the last comment as I got carried away with reading Sarah's answer to Question 7 and just had to reply! My favorite fictional mom is Bezellia Grove's mom in "The Improper Life of Bezellia Grove".

I'm a brand new follower. Sarah's link re: interview enticed me to visit. My favorite fictional mom is actually the dad in To Kill a Mockingbird. He treated his children with respect and was an ideal role model with his actions.

I also liked Miss Minerva in the old-old Miss Minerva book series. She was a maiden aunt who inherited a couple children and became a great mom as time passed.

I;m still trying to win Sarah's Got Milf!
