Spotlight and Giveaway: Wreck this Journal Everywhere

With more than two million copies in print, Keri Smith’s Wreck This Journal is an international phenomenon. Smith’s “creativity through destruction” guidebook has garnered a legion of fans around the world who share their creations on Twitter, Flickr, Instagram, Tumblr and in You Tube videos.

Fueled by media coverage from USA Today, Wired's "Geek Dad" blog, MSNBC.com, and as Gizmodo’s App of the Day, the Journal-inspired Wreck This App quickly became one of Penguin Group’s bestselling apps. Wreck This Journal is The Artist’s Way for the digital age—a creativity book that’s gone viral.

Now, Perigee is excited to announce WRECK THIS JOURNAL EVERYWHERE (Perigee Trade Paperback Original; $10; June 3, 2014), a travel-size version of Wreck This Journal, which gives avid fans and wanna-be-wreckers a new companion for wrecking out in the world.

Wreck This Journal Everywhere features dozens of new activities as well as the most popular on-the-go prompts from the original, and invites readers to…
·         Collect names, autographs, other people’s dreams
·         Fill an entire page with words spotted on an adventure
·         Hang the journal in a public place and invite people to draw on it
·         Document time passing in a new environment
·         Take a walk, then stand on a page
·         Find a way to wear the journal
·         Acquire a napkin from a restaurant, write a secret on it, glue it to a page
·         Hide a page in someone’s pocket or bag with a note

Keri Smith is the bestselling author of Wreck this Journal, The Pocket Scavenger, How to Be an Explorer of the World, This Is Not a Book, Mess and Finish This Book, as well as the apps "Wreck This App" and "This Is Not an App."  Her books and apps demonstrate a 'learn by doing approach', and are being used in school curriculums all over the world as a way of fostering non-traditional methods of exploration. She also teaches and conducts workshops based on her non-traditional techniques across North America. Visit her at her website and on Facebook, as well as her official fan page on Twitter.

I like writing. Sometimes I like baking which I think counts.. And every once in a while I'll make something, some kind of project just to have something to create.

I would love to have this book in my hands! I'm creative just by writing in my journal or writing down story ideas.
