Making friends with Amy and Gail

We don't just ask authors questions...we answer them too. Here are Amy and Gail's answers. Hope you'll enjoy getting to know them better.

Amy:

Favorite TV show about friendship:
Will and Grace

Favorite song about friendship:
"That's What Friends are For"

Friend you've known the longest:
Danielle Abrahams is the friend I've known the longest. We met probably earlier than nursery school and we will always be here for each other.

How did you meet your best friend?
I met my BFF in an icebreaker at a youth convention. We all picked pieces of paper out of a hat. I picked out "rose" and I had to find "gun". The rest is history.

Favorite destination for a girls weekend/trip:
I really don't have a favorite. I have to say any place tropical. This is always my answer to any kind of question relating to travel. A long weekend to Bermuda would be so much fun and much less expensive because it's just off the Atlantic Coast.

A character from "Friends" you'd be best friends with:
Definitely Rachel.

The strangest way you ever met a friend:
The way I met my best friend Emily (see above).

Chick lit authors I'd love to be best friends with:
A hysterical trio would be Caprice Crane, Jen Lancaster and me. There would not be a time when I wouldn't be laughing my ass off. A third one would be Jane Green. She's such a loving, warm and caring person.

Favorite book about friendship:
There are quite a few books about friendship that I like. One that keeps popping in my mind is "Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood."

Did you have one of those best friend necklaces that split down the middle?
In high school Emily, Jenny and I had the best friend necklace split down into 3

Gail:

Favorite movie about friendship:
Lilo and Stitch

Favorite song about friendship:
"One Good Friend" by George Canyon

How did you meet your best friend? 10th grade English class. She was probably the only person there who appreciated my sarcasm and wit.

Favorite memory shared with your best friend:
Making "quiet" grilled cheese sandwiches at 3am in my parents' kitchen. I think it was the repeated and very loud shushing that actually woke them up (although we thought we were as stealthy and silent as cat burglars. Every time.). Please note: this has happened more than once. Sorry Mom and Dad!!

Friend you've known the longest without meeting in person:
I don't know if this counts, but when I was in 7th grade, I had a pen pal in England. We wrote back and forth for a couple of years. We reconnected via facebook a few years ago, and actually got to finally meet up after 15 years of "knowing" each other in 2009.

Three words to describe your best friend:
Unique, stubborn, beautiful

Who would play your best friend in the movie of your life:
Emma Stone

Favorite inside joke with a friend?
There are just so many! Grizzled old men; the loser entrance; mmmmmonkeys; the creepy door guy at the bar; student teachers; guava... and I'm not going to explain any of these as they're all mildly incriminating...

A chick lit author you'd want to be best friends with:
Jen Lancaster

The nicest thing your best friend has ever done for you?
My best friend was the best maid of honor ever when I got married. I have never seen someone so absurdly organized and cool under pressure. It was the best gift she could have given me with all the craziness leading up to it.
