Guest Book Review and Giveaway: Seven Letters from Paris

By Bethany Petty

**Giveaway is now closed**

Are you looking for a real life love story? Seven Letters from Paris is for you!

Picture this: It’s 1989. Two American college students are on a European tour. They each meet a handsome Frenchman, share a wonderful and exciting evening, and then part ways as their train races toward a new town. The Frenchman writes one of the Americans seven extraordinary and beautiful love letters to keep any spark they had alive. She never writes him back.

Fast forward twenty years. Samantha has just lost her job in Chicago and is stuck in the rut of a loveless marriage. For some reason, she feels the need to read those love letters from Jean-Luc. When she does, Samantha feels alive again, and is filled with the passion she felt twenty years earlier.

Samantha is determined to make amends for the letters she never wrote, contacts Jean-Luc through the magic of Google, and thus rekindles their romance.

Seven Letters from Paris tells the beautiful story of a romance twenty years in the making. The best part? It’s true!

After I finished this book, I immediately located Samantha’s blog and love her posts about living in France, attempting to master the French cuisine, and adjusting to life as an overnight parent.

Get ready to follow Samantha Vérant as she reclaims her life, her passion, and her long lost love!

Thanks to Sourcebooks for the book in exchange for an honest review. They have one copy for a lucky reader in the US or Canada!

I am from the era where our boyfriends were all in the service and we wrote letters. It was our form of communication. I wrote really sappy love letters (I was seventeen or so, maybe younger) and I received some very gushy ones also. Unfortunately, they were lost somewhere along my life, but I still remember.

This really sounds like a wonderful book. I am desperate to read it. I haven't actually gotten a love letter, but I got a letter from my first love after he found out I divorced my first husband. He was wanting to meet again just to visit (stating he had gotten his life together and sorry for all he did to me back then). I didn't call before meeting him, just showed up at his job bringing one of my sisters along with me. He was surprised, but what surprised me more (and kind of freaked me out) was he was still carrying a picture of me from all those years ago. Of course nothing could come of it because I was already with someone else. But, it was a nice visit.

I wrote love letters to my husband to show him the type of person I was. Since writing letters was very popular during that period it gave me great pleasure. Your post is wonderful. Many thanks. saubleb(at)gmail(dot)com

Yes, I have received love letters and remember hugging them to my heart. Sigh...

This sounds like a delightful book and one I would enjoy reading. Since I am a die-hard Francophile, I know this would be a must-read for me.

Do love emails count?

I'm sure I got letters when my boyfriend was in Vietnam but I don't have any now. That was so very long ago. I wish people still wrote letters instead of texts or tweets.

My husband often writes me "mini" love letters, notes that say and mean so much to me.

I've written one - 12 pages, but never had the guts to send it out. Looking back now, all these years later, I should've mailed it right away.
