Today we're pleased to welcome Sharon C. Cooper to CLC to celebrate the publication of her latest novel, In It to Win It. We enjoyed getting to know her and we know you will too. Thanks to Berkley, we have one copy to share with a lucky reader!

USA Today bestselling author Sharon C. Cooper loves anything involving romance with a happily-ever-after, whether in books, movies, or real life. She writes contemporary romance, as well as romantic suspense and enjoys rainy days, carpet picnics, and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Her stories have won numerous awards over the years, and when Sharon isn’t writing, she’s hanging out with her amazing husband, doing volunteer work, or reading a good book (a romance of course). Synopsis:

Spoiled, fickle, and prissy are only a few adjectives that have been used to describe Morgan Redford. Though she’s never had to worry about money, she’s determined to make a name for herself on her own terms. Her new venture won’t be an epic fail like her former professional cuddling service or the pet hotel that never got off the ground. No, through the nonprofit she founded, Morgan is doing something meaningful—helping teens who are aging out of the foster care system—and she’s got her eye on a property that could house these kids. But the competition is steep, and one of the bidders is someone she never expected…

When Los Angeles real estate developer Drake Faulkner learns that his eccentric mentor is selling property that is a part of Drake’s legacy, he jumps at the chance to buy it. But he soon learns the billionaire has other ideas: buyers must compete in an Iron Man competition of sorts for the property. Drake refuses to play along with this ridiculous demand… until he finds out Morgan, his ex who ghosted him years ago is one of the potential buyers. No way is he letting her—Little-Miss-Can’t-Run-A-Block-Without-Gasping-For-Air—win the property he wants. Bitter? Yes. Petty? Probably. But as the gauntlet of games heats up and forces them to face the past, they are met with a pull that feels all too familiar.

Now, if they could only keep their eyes on the prize and off each other—but who’s to say they can’t do both?

“Morgan and Drake’s palpable chemistry, emotional connection, and admirable personal growth make them easy to cheer on. Readers will be charmed.”
Publishers Weekly

"With plenty of physical humor, hijinks, and heart, this is a fun, steamy second-chance romance that builds on the world Cooper began with Business Not As Usual. Recommended for readers who also enjoyed Farrah Rochon’s The Boyfriend Project."
—Library Journal

What is a favorite compliment you have received on your writing?
My favorite compliment is probably when a reader tells me that my story kept them up all night because they couldn't put it down. Every author loves to hear that!

How is the main character, Morgan Redford, similar to or different from you?
Morgan Redford is very different from me. She's a fly-by-the-seat-of-her-pants person who goes with the flow easily. I'm not. Lol. I'm not a free spirit like she is, and I usually plan everything. Sad to say, I get frustrated easily when things don't go according to plan. Definitely one of my own personal character flaws. Lol. Morgan is not like that. If at first she doesn’t succeed, she brushes herself off and tries something else. One thing we do have in common is that we've run several businesses. Unlike her, who failed at most of hers (smile), mine have been successful. Thank goodness!

If In It to Win It was made into a movie, who would you cast in the leading roles?
Great question! The following actors were my inspiration for the following characters: The role of Drake would go to - Lance Gross (love him!). The role of Morgan would go to - Yara Shahidi. AND here's who I envisioned for the twins: The role of Aiden would go to actor Miles Brown, and for Addison, the role would go to actress Priah Nicole Ferguson.

Tell us about the last time you won something.
I won a Reading Warriors Choice Award (October 2022). More specifically, I won The Rochelle Alers Best Series Award for my Atlanta's Finest Series (romantic suspense). The award is sponsored by the book club - Building Relationships Around Books (BRAB).

Which TV series are you currently binge-watching?
Unlike most people I know, I'm not much of a binge-watcher. Lol. However, I did promise my sister I would binge-watch Abbott Elementary one day. She loves the show. So I'm going to try to dive into it...one day. Lol.

What is your favorite winter holiday treat?
Cookies. I LOVE cookies and tend to eat WAY TOO MANY during the holidays. They are a weakness!
