Spotlight and Giveaway: The Passing Storm

Today we are featuring The Passing Storm by Christine Nolfi. Thanks to SparkPoint Studio, we have one copy to give away!

A gripping, openhearted novel about family, reconciliation, and bringing closure to the secrets of the past.

Early into the tempestuous decade of her thirties, Rae Langdon struggles to work through a grief she never anticipated. With her father, Connor, she tends to their Ohio farm, a forty-acre spread that itself has enjoyed better days. As memories sweep through her, some too precious to bear, Rae gives shelter from a brutal winter to a teenager named Quinn Galecki.

Quinn has been thrown out by his parents, a couple too troubled to help steer the misunderstood boy through his own losses. Now Quinn has found a temporary home with the Langdons―and an unexpected kinship, because Rae, Quinn, and Connor share a past and understand one another’s pain. But its depths―and all its revelations and secrets―have yet to come to light. To finally move forward, Rae must confront them and also fight for Quinn, whose parents have other plans in mind for their son.

With forgiveness, love, and the spring thaw, there might be hope for a new season―a second chance Rae believed in her heart was gone forever.

The Passing Storm is a touching tale of healing, hope, and belonging. The characters were richly layered, and the satisfying ending hit a perfect note. You don’t want to miss this unforgettable novel.”

I remember the blizzard of ‘77. I was out of school for several days and I remember making lots of snow angels and snowmen.

I lived in the Great White North all my life. Snowstorms and blizzards were severe and lengthy. One time I had to abandon my car because we lived on a hill and the snow had fallen so rapidly there was no visible road anymore. Days went by and then the shoveling out was necessary. Just one storm of many years living there.

The biggest storm I can remember happened when I was about nine years old. I still had to go to school, and the bus broke down so we had to walk the rest of the way.

In 2011 our town was just about washed away by storms and flood waters.

We have experienced numerous hurricanes over the years - usually from as great a distance away as possible.

The last blizzard I remember was in 2012 and we had 22 inches of blowing and drifting snow. Luckily I made it home before it started. There were some people that were stranded at work.

The very windy storm in our area wasn't too long ago. It was windy enough for many branches to break off our redwood trees and one flew up on the roof. The way the trees swayed had me really worried. I was afraid the trees would topple over. That would have been a major disaster. One small patio size tree did fall over. It was near the front of our yard. No damage to anything around it.

I remember the Blizzard of '77. The snow came down so long & piled up everywhere. My dad took hours & hours to get home from Boston. Everything was closed for days, and we had to walk to the grocery store pulling a toboggan! It was crazy!

In 2005 we had a tornado that destroyed many homes in a town about 7 miles from us.
