Kerry Lonsdale's one-click shopping trip...plus a book giveaway

Kerry Lonsdale's debut, Everything We Keep, made it to Melissa A's 2016 favorites list. She's back with her follow-up, Everything We Left Behind (published on July 4th), and has one copy for a lucky reader! As Melissa reminds us in her review, read Everything We Keep first in order to avoid spoilers. We will not be sharing the synopsis of Everything We Left Behind for this very reason. (If you don't care about spoilers, click the link above.)

Kerry Lonsdale believes life is more exciting with twists and turns, which may be why she enjoys dropping her characters into unexpected scenarios and foreign settings. She graduated from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, and is a founder of the Women’s Fiction Writers Association. She resides in Northern California with her husband, two children, and an aging golden retriever who’s convinced she’s still a puppy. (Bio courtesy of Kerry's website.)

Today, Kerry is here to talk about shopping, as that is our theme for this month.

Where did you enjoy shopping most when you were a kid/teen?
The mall, of course! My favorite was Stanford Shopping Center in Palo Alto, CA. It’s an open-air mall with large raised planting beds that overflow with flowers and foliage. So much color...

Last item you purchased online:
I love online shopping! (Almost too much. Lol.) The last item I purchased was a box of padded envelopes. Boring, I know. But they’ll be used for a good cause. Book mail!

Least favorite thing to shop for:
Groceries. Ugh. It’s such a chore. And rarely happens only once/week. More like 3-4 times/week. But… teenagers. They have bottomless stomachs.

Do you like to shop alone or with family/friends?
Online! I have no patience shopping with other people. It’s hard for me to focus on what I’m purchasing. I spend too much time talking, which is why if I’m with family and/or friends, we’re doing lunch instead.

Most amusing purchase:
I’m allergic to Sodium Laurel Sulfate, a common ingredient in most toothpastes so I order my toothpaste online since it’s not available in stores. I don’t know what I did. Hit an extra zero or something in the quantity field. Either way, 30 tubes showed up, enough to last me a couple of years.

Favorite place to buy groceries:
At the moment, Sprouts. It’s a mini-version of Whole Foods because the nearest Whole Foods is forty-five minutes from me. When I get over the hill into the Bay Area, my favorite store is Draeger’s. Shopping there is a treat.

Thanks to Kerry for visiting with us and sharing her book with our readers!

When I was a teen we used to have my friend's parents drop us off at the movie theater and after they left, we would walk over to the mall. We didn't do any shopping (as none of us really had the money for that), it was more like hanging out in the arcade or walking around looking at the boys. We would always get a piece of pizza and and Orange Julius.

To be honest, I never liked shopping. In fact, I'm still not a fan.

I really didnt get to go shopping as a teen. My mom only would let me buy school clothes at the beginning of the school year and it was only would be like to new outfits because out of that money I had to get shoes, sneakers and school supplies. It was depressing when you would see your friends with all these new clothes.
