Ladies' night with Lancaster!

By Melissa Patafio

I’ve never read any of Jen Lancaster’s books, but after meeting her on May 17th, 2011, I can guarantee that I will read every last one of them. I knew who she was and often saw her books in stores and online, but for some reason I never picked one up. Wow, what have I been missing?

While standing in the local Barnes and Noble with my girlfriends, listening to Jen speak, I realized that by being so warm, funny, and open with us, Jen had just gained another faithful fan. She spoke about her new house in Illinois, her husband, and her dogs. She read a passage from her book, and discussed her experience at a local spa. The crowd laughed for the entire duration of her visit, and everyone left feeling a little giddy and a lot inspired.

It was a great experience for me, as I have only met one other author in person, Jennifer Weiner, until that amazing Tuesday night. Not only did I get to meet Jen, but also an author named Beth Kendrick, who lives nearby. It was great timing because we had literally just interviewed Beth for Chick Lit Central.

Jen was extremely gracious and took the time to sign every book and take pictures with anyone that asked. I am so glad that I got to meet her and that now I have another author to add to my “Favorites” shelf. I look forward to reading all of her books and hopefully she will be back again next year!

Thanks Jen!

Jen Lancaster is definitely a riot!
And I was at the same book signing, I brought my Mom for a belated Mother's Day outing of dinner and book signing. :)

I've read all of Jen Lancaster's book and literally LOL. She is hilar! I've been wanting to meet her ever since her first memoir "Bitter is the New Black." Now I am reading her first fiction novel and it's just as entertaining.
