Book Review and Giveaway: Twisted Sisters

**Giveaway is closed**

Reagan Bishop is a pusher. A licensed psychologist who stars on the Wendy Winsberg cable breakout show "I Need a Push," Reagan helps participants become their best selves by urging them to overcome obstacles and change behaviors. An overachiever, Reagan is used to delivering results.

Despite her overwhelming professional success, Reagan never seems to earn her family’s respect. Her younger sister, Geri, is and always will be the Bishop family favorite. When a national network buys Reagan’s show, the pressures for unreasonably quick results and higher ratings mount. But Reagan’s a clinician, not a magician, and fears witnessing her own personal failings in prime time. (And seriously? Her family will never let her hear the end of it.) Desperate to make the show work and keep her family at bay, Reagan actually listens when the show’s New Age healer offers an unconventional solution…

Record Nielsen ratings follow. But when Reagan decides to use her newfound power to teach everyone a lesson about sibling rivalry, she’s the one who will be schooled…(Synopsis courtesy of Amazon.)

Amy Bromberg:

If you know me from Facebook and/or Twitter, then you’re definitely aware that I’m a #JenLancasterAholic (yes, I made up this hashtag) to the MAX! I would love to be part of a girl’s lunch with Jen and Caprice Crane. They’re very good friends and both are hilarious. I’d be cracking up so hard, I’d be peeing in my pants. I had the pleasure of meeting Jen during BEA 2012. #hugeauthorcrush here!

Boy, is Reagan a trip. Half of the time I wanted to strangle her, and the other half I wanted to hug her and tell her everything’s going to be okay. She thinks she knows it all, from her career to the people in her life, especially her sister, Geri. But not until Reagan literally gets to walk in Geri’s shoes, does she realize that in fact she barely knows anything about her.

Unfortunately I don’t have siblings so I cannot relate to sibling rivalry. Growing up when I went to play at friends’ houses, I did see some and it wasn’t too pretty.

I love the way Jen weaves humor into the story in a real way, making Reagan, and all of the characters relatable and funny.

If you’ve been reading some heavy, serious books lately, and need to take a break and laugh a little bit, then definitely get Twisted Sisters. If like me, you’re a Jen Lancaster fan, well then....um...what are you waiting for?!?!?!??!?!?

Tracey Meyers:

Sibling rivalry is surely something I can relate to, so when I heard Jen Lancaster's latest novel centered around this very topic I knew I'd have to read it.

True to form, Jen delivers another well-written story that has an important underlying message that not only gets you thinking, but also showcases her humor and wit.  Also, as someone from the Chicagoland area, it was fun to see all the references to popular local neighborhoods and places. The character were true to life and relatable - something that I feel is very important to any story whether it is fiction or non-fiction.

  10. I have a plethora of sisters - 4 in fact, and I love them all. Although I hated my closest sister when we were growing up, we are best buds now.

There's room for one more though - and I'd like it to be Tina Fey.

    Love Jen Lancaster!

  11. My sister and I now have a good relationship, but when we were younger, she really bugged me. My daughters have an AMAZING relationship: I am sometimes envious of their little world.

TV sisters that I love: PARENTHOOD. All of those relationships are great and real.

  16. When we were young, my sister and I fought like crazy. When we were in our teens, we became friends. When we were in our twenties, we were best friends. Sadly, she died in a plane crash at 32. I still miss her and it's been 34 years next month. I wish she had been around to help me raise my son as a single mom and to have kids of her own.

  22. As an only child, I am terribly jealous of anyone with a sister. Heck, I'd even take a brother at this point.

But, if I could choose my celebrity sister, I'd take Khloe Kardashian. (did I lose you by admitting that?) She just seems like the kind of sister who would do anything to protect you and you could say anything to.

  30. I love my younger sister...just got off the phone with her, in fact. From reading Jen Lancaster's books, we are a LOT alike, so it would be fun to have her as a sister. I think the best sister relationship on tv or film is in the Disney movie, Frozen. SPOILER ALERT: Elsa & Anna save each other by showing true love as sisters. First Disney movie to have sisters, rather than a Prince Charming, save the day. Sisters before misters! ;-) LOL

  42. I'm definitely putting this book on my to-read list. I have two sisters, who I thought were so different from me when I was young. Now, I realize just how similar we really are. We live hours apart, and don't see each other as often as we'd like, but each moment is a joy. jnbeverett(at)gmail.com

  43. My 'baby' sister and I got along well enough (she's 7 years younger,) but the middle sister and I hated each other when we were kids. Constantly fighting (and I had the teeth marks to prove it!) She got pregnant in her teens and that was when we got close. We all still live in the same town and continue our close knit friendship.

If I had to choose a replacement though,(wink wink) I think I'd like having Rebel Wilson as a sis. She would be silly with me instead of just rolling her eyes at me! LOL

I have a younger sister and we get along really well. We have been talking about books a lot lately! If I could choose a celebrity sister, it would definitely be Mindy Kaling. :) And I love the sisters from Full House.
